Master Fine Art
What is a "Fine Art print"? Many are calling any image printed on matte thick paper "Fine Art". But these prints are basically printed on big photocopiers on business card paper and have limited quality and longevity.
At Atkins when we say 'fine art' we actually mean it. Our Fine Art Pigment prints are printed on a specially designed ink jet printer that has been carefully calibrated and colour managed. The process produces stunningly detailed prints that will last well over 100 years with proper care. Pigment prints printed in a pro lab with the high standards a good pro lab demand are worthy of being in an art gallery and worth of the words 'fine art'.
We will also make sure you are printing on the right paper for the image. Our highly trained staff can assist you to make the right selection. Our machinery is carefully monitored and ICC profiled to match the papers. Perfect award winning quality, every time.
We also offer edition tracking and drop shipping, we take all the pain of being a busy professional artist away so you can just focus on your work.
Nitty gritty
Fine art prints utilise a pigment ink, which is a solid, and essentially bonds to the surface of the paper. Pigment prints are more stable in long-term ultraviolet light exposure, but dyes, which are used in matt art prints and prints are traditional silver halide printing are more durable in people’s hands. Pigment printing can render a larger range of colours than dye printing, and this results a little more subtlety in colours and punch in the maximum saturated colours.
We offer lustre, gloss, metallic, fine art pearl, smooth cotton, textured cotton and several specialty papers. The papers can be separated into two main types, ‘coated’ and ‘uncoated’. Coated is the traditional feeling photo papers that are either a lustre or a gloss surface. Uncoated papers are often referred to as art papers, they look and feel like a water-colour paper. The range of specialty papers is too great to list here, but includes silk, linen, sticky back and more.
