It is fantastic to see the interest in this competition, clearly people are concerned about the Murray River. I was talking with a friend yesterday, we were running through potential solutions for the problems at Goolwa and the lower lakes, and he suggested something interesting...

Why not build a channel between Pt Sturt and Pt Pomanda, run levy banks down each side and plant crops on the rest of Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert, perhaps graze dairy. The crops will stop the acidity rising, the reduction in surface area will cut down the evaporation and the river will have more water in flow.
