Van Dyke Brown is an alternative photographic printing process that yields a rich brown color. An image is made by coating cotton paper with the light sensitive 3 part solution and placing this in contact with a negative and exposing to sunlight. Van Dyke Brown is a contact printing process where the image produced is the same size as the negative. The workshop will cover suitable negatives (including digital negatives), paper choice, coating methods, and exposing and processing, including gold toning. Facilitated by Leanne McPhee.
